I've got a couple of sets of 5.25" speakers kicking about at home, and was thinking of replacing the rubbish standard speakers. Two questions:

1. Are the door pannels easy to remove. I always seem to brake the little plastic clips on other cars i've done.

2. Do I need any of the autolead style pod adapter things, or will the speakers sit straight in?

Cheers.

Taking the door panel off is the easy bit.

Once youve got it off then youll wish that you hadnt botherd.

Trust me I thought I would give it a shot at changing the speakers....quickly decided otherwise.

In the end I took it down to Turnbulls ( ice installers) 1hr or so later 2 Boston SL60s and full dynomat in both doors.

I have just changed all mine.
For starters front door speakers are 6.5" and will need to be mounted with MDF adapters as there are only 3 mount points for the original speakers.
Rear doors are 5.25" but still only have a 3 point mount which is no good for aftermarket speakers. MDF needed again or drill new holes and use self tappers(not recommended).
The worst part of removing door panels is taking off the door handle surround.
After that its just a couple of screws, pulling the panels off and unplugging wiring to door switches.
Lots of info on Scoobynet ICE forum or if your at the meet on Sept.2nd I can give you copies of what I used.
