did you not change the bearing when you changed the clutch?
It is normal practice when changing a clutch to replace this anyway

As this was new complete clutch and is the right clutch for car. I think you will have to remove the clutch and inspect it. Also check flywheel when clutch is out. Would have thought bearings and clutch would have been inspected before fitting. A knackered bearing is not hard to spot.

thats what i thought, has any1 else had work done by *************** in chippenham???? ever had any problems with his work as i dont know if i should buy a new clutch and go back 2him and pay again or would it be better 2go 2a scooby specialist???? just paid a few hundred£££££ so cant afford 2keep paying out on it 4it 2get fcked up. :character0110: :character0110: :character0110:
If I had this problem I would take the car to Interpro or Powerstation or some independant dealer. Get them to look at it. It may not need another clutch so best get someone to look at it first.
should be able to buy the thrust bearing seperately, when i bought my new clutch a few months ago it came in 3 boxes, clutch plate, clutch cover and thrust bearing

recently changed mine , and i helped :)
but then my flywheel needed milling so i went home
rang them in the morning and they had to do the whole lot again cuz the release bearing supplied with the clutch had a hairline crack in it
which they didn't spot till they'd took it out again , just wondering if that could be similar to yours , i got lucky because they had a spare 1 in
???

Was the old/new clutch shagged compleatly? Would have thought some of it could be salvaged. It does not always pay to get spanner monkeys you do not know to do the work but would have thought the last fitter would have tried to help or at least offer some form of compansation.:rolleyes1:

I reccomended ******* mate and am deeply disturbed by your comments. hes has done work on three of my cars and there has been no problems ever. I am not in the habbit of reccomending spanner monkeys to anyone.....
I think you are being economical with the truth mate. i have spoke to ****** and he quoted you 250 for a clutch change and a full service......he asked you to turn up at the garage early due to the amount of work needed and you turned up at 10.30......after he done your clutch he said to you he was dubious about your thrust bearing, drive it for a few days and see what happens.....when i came time to pay him you said i dont have the £250 ive only got £230.
Whilst he was working on the car, you got him to change a wheel bearing, and asked him to replace your exhaust system (with one that did not fit).
these were all done extra will no additional charge on top of the 250 that you were origionally quoted.
And after a few days you sent ***** a text, that youve had someone else look at the clutch..its incorrectly fitted.....you wanted £100 back......steve offered to look at it again and put it right if he had done it wrong. you refused but still asked him if he could still carry out the service.....that wasnt carried out due to you turning up late...
sounds to me like your a chancer mate:action-smiley-060:

Having recently just read this thread I can say that your post Pauline completley vilifies ***** and his work and makes t'other guy look like a bit of a plonker.
There are two sides to every story....
As I said in previous posts I would have thought the last fitter would have tried to help... seems he has offered to help and redo the clutch thrust bearing... Why did you not let him have a go at the repair?

As I said in previous posts I would have thought the last fitter would have tried to help... seems he has offered to help and redo the clutch thrust bearing... Why did you not let him have a go at the repair?
first of all he said 300 for doing service oil and filter fuel filter clutch and wheel bearing but in the end i asked him 2do a centre pipe that i thought was right but had been sent wrong he said 280ish i thought was a good price, the wheel bearing didnt need doing so i didnt get him 2do it.he did say that he thought the thrust bearing was no good and he wouldnt have been able 2tell that till it was fitted???
he said he would re-do it 4 £100 i was really happy with that price,i got home and put this thread on here and a lot of people said it sounds like bad fitment...so i contacted him and told him he said it was the clutch then changed his mind a few days later and said he would bring a mate and have a look at it so i said ok they turned up his mate said the bearin is coming a part?? all he did was look at by takein the inter cooler off thought u had 2take the box out??
then he said it would cost me £200 to have it fixed :angry-smiley-055:
so not happy with being fobbed off i took it 2a scooby specialist near me and had 2 pay again 2have it done properly, they said it had been fitted wrong the gearbox oil was not replaced and new bolts had 2b put on,that were so say done b4 so i contacted him again said i think it fair that he gave me some money back, shortly after i got a call from his mate sayin they dont believe me and they wan2 have a look at the clutch i said no u can have the garage number and they will tell u due 2being fobbed off once b4 and i was told 2go get f*kd and if i rang him again i would have the **** ******out of me..at the end of the day i cant do much about it i just thought he was an ok person guess i was wrong... but i am over it now.

I suggest no-one else posts on this thread now accept the 2 affected parties.
The post above has serious implications with regard to threatening behaviour, and there could be libel involved.
