carbon or not

iv been thinking of getting a carbon bonnet ,but im not sure,

i have gone for carbon because i love it but it really depends why you want a carbon bonnet and what colour car the bonnet goes on...

take it thats your blue one in the avatar???

carbon is good,but watch out for the carbon covers fibreglass.....total rubbish.......seen several,they start to crack at speed due to lack of strengthening around the vent and scoop area!!......

I just sold my carbon Bonnet, PX for an alloy one.......

The carbon hood is about double the weight of a Steel one, and about 50 times that of an alloy one lol.......They do look good, but As ed has warned, beware of the cheaper ones...... I paid £650 for mine, as i wanted a Top Brand due to lots of people on SN saying theirs had cracked and broken up, some having the carbon embed into the Windscreen.

I would urge anyone considering the Carbon bonnets, to Pay the extra and get a Top brand such as the Seibon.... which is what i had.

It will work out cheaper in the long run......

BTW my carbon hood added £160 onto my insurance!

when i asked why, i was told it would be too costly to replace if their was an Accident....... I said it's half the price of the OE alloy Bonnet.... they said they would only replace with a Steel one...... I said no you wont..... and cancelled my policy their and then.... bye bye NU.

I must admit its not something I'd put on my own car, and we've got some seriously chavy looking cars up here with carbon bonnets that look bloody awful!:eek:

That said I have seen some cars at shows, etc that look fantastic so if you fancy it, go for it!:wink:

see, in my opinion that looks awful like that. Especially the scoop. I`d much rather have a standard bonnet any day. As for the other colours, red, dbm etc. I`ve seen many with carbon bonnets and i`m still adamnat the only colour that actually suits a carbon bonnet imho is black because it doesn`t stand out too much.

Each to there own. My opinion, I agree that it only looks good with black and maybe red. Not too bad on white either but if your not sure then dont do it unless your totally sure to have it done. Tbh I dont think it would look that good on blue but I dont think i seen one that colour with one on. Imho.
