Ok, with all the arguing over the Subject between staff members, and staff resigning over it..... I think as its your club you should have your say...

Do you think the Club should pull out the Stops to win Best Club Stand at shows, or should we just turn up and have Fun?

My opinion is, what's the point of going to a show if we do not make the effort to win......

Please remember SWS..... is entered into the Best Of The Best competition against Street stylers South West at the Devon & Performance show on 29th July.....

this was agreed in December with Devoncarshows.

I think we have made the effort to win, in all that we have done.

I do IMHO however think, that we need to get other members involved in helping organising these events.

I also think that at least two members of staff, should be with the stand at all times, rather than going off willy nilly.

We can use whats happened, and whats been said to our advantage.

Shane has offered to take over my role for the time being, but I will be behind the scenes to help him out.

I hope this post has not upset anyone, this is my view, having thought about this situation over the last few days.

We ALL need to pull together, to move the club forward.

IMHO Staff are called Staff for a reason, its the same as real life, we are there to do a job, and delegate.

We do make an effort, but at the suggestion of working to Improve on the Events i am Shot down..... and Accused of Sour Grapes.... Their is always ways we can Improve and we will never get it spot on.....

I feel we need to put in more of an effort, ensuring the layout is Spot on...... with cars lined up perfectly etc..... and when at CC and members go off on Parade Laps etc, they should Park back where they came from..... otherwise the layout goes to plot....

And as you all know some people are not happy that I think we should pull out all the stops to win.......

And this is why i have put in this poll, to see if the Members want us to pull out all the stops to win Best club stand at shows or not.....

We have all worked to the best of our abilities with the shows this year.

We cannot possibly do better, unless we get more help, and that means you helping out more mate.......

good presentation..ensuring all cars were ligned up straight, usually at angles etc... spec sheets for cars, Dj's etc as in swms last year....

some of these things people are now looking at to raise the profile of the Club

Maybee it did, Maybee it did not....

but from what i heard, it brought people over to the stand.... and seeing SIDC stand with a DJ, and noticing how people were drifting over and appeared to be listening to the Music.....(Drawing a Crowd)

i am sure the Judges would be looking for Presentation..... Activities...... and possibly how the stand attracts visitors..... I do not know the criteria, and am only assuming on this......

It seems the cars do not make a great deal of difference...Seems what gimmicks you can come up with is what counts now a days.

No different here Olly but looking at the last show there were so many clubs about with great cars...I had a look at SW-PC's stand and it really stood out with some very nice cars. But the winners had 9-10 cars and I would think about 3 of these were in show condition. Do you think they won on there cars or the palm trees and competitions they set up.

Incidently I made mention a couple of times about having a small seperate stand for those wishing to win shows as it would be easy to make a great display with all the cars looking mint.
Is this not an idea to be discussed??

Olly it is a Great idea, and when we have had enough time for the tension to settle, perhaps we can then look at all the suggestions...... and see what the members want to do.

I want to win at show's but my car is not good enough to do this.....

we would also need to work out if we would have enough show cars at the event to warrant a display area...

I thought the centre of the stand looked fairly good admitted it was a car park each side but the cars did come in thick and fast and the original plan went out the window when we saw the site. Never worried me though as I had a great time eating plumbs meat....:innocent0009:

A four car stand wouldn't be hard to fill.
We've got some proper minty cars on here.
A stand this size would get a good position near the centre of the venue.
A DJ and ladies would now work in this environment.
Members can put themselves down for whichever stand they wish and if we have too many asking to go on the smaller stand we can find some impartial way of selecting which ones go on it.
Or have a judging panel to select the best four from the volunteered cars.

In combination with this we could do another small stand with Performance cars...Some members like to mod and race/track there motors think we should also show the subaru for what it is "A Rally Car".

See, now this I can picture in my head winning trophies.
What I could never picture was 30 + cars half of which have families with kids running around and flaming bbq's...being what the judges are looking for, no matter how straight the line is.

thats very well put olly...and a good idea....we have to look at it that it is a family club and alot of people have come with their families...and probably would prefer a relaxed stand to a "show" one so speaking for both sides...its a good idea....

its true bob...alot of money went into sidc stand and it attracted people....i was very impressed with their stand and thought they did a great job...its proved it wasnt the volume of cars it was the quality....but it doesnt seem to be about the cars nowadays...your correct there :rolleyes1:

not sure if we do this
but is it worth bring memebership packs on the show days see if new memebers wanna join we can get the cash off them and they get there pack straight away??

its a bit hard to do that mate....as i have to create a membership card with the username, name, expiry date etc on it and then laminate them...so cant be done on the spot...as their member number only appears when they actually join the forums....

Could we not do this and issue a temporary membership card made of card or something until you can make a proper one which could be given at a meet or posted out later? :scratchchin:

They could then sign up to the site (if they hadn't already done so previously) - PM someone when they have a user name and their site status could be updated!:smile:

so just remember is not about quantity on the stand its the quality!!

if the club is only wanting to win awards then imo two stands are the way forward.

However, I honestly believe that winning isn`t everything. I would go to shows and be proud showing my car off and not expect either myself or the club to win anything.

Yes I agree two stands is the way froward... but will the smaller shows allow it...

If we are also going for 2 stands... is their a need to limit to Just Subaru's...

Could limit it on the Show Stand only?
