Trix,
Believe me when i say once you have done it you will want to go back up again.
A few years ago me and Sally Done a Static line Jump. after a day of training.
I had a fear of hights and had never flown before. but this was superb.
as it is a Solo jump it was more difficult. but easy at the same time. The Instructor dropped the drop wind indicator and asked me to leek out and see if i could see it. :getmecoat: :scared0018:
it was not good. and i thought i do not think i can do this. the instructor spotted the indicator and him & the pilot worked out the wind.
when in position, the Instructor told me to get into the doorway.
without Question i did, he said 3,2,1 go and i just jumped. without thinking.
All the training went right out of my head and all i done was shout AAAAHHHHHHHH for the 3 seconds that i was freefalling then the chute opened and i was pulled upwards. Sh*t chack the Canopy. all the training Cam back.
i started to Shout :whoo: :whoo: :whoo: The feeling was :fantastic_2:
Sally was last to jump and she started to bottle it and said she could not do it. the instructor talked to her and the pilot circled once more, and she got into the door and Jumped.
She was lopsided as she exited the plane and when the chute opened she went into a Spin. but managed to Recover from it.
we all had a 1 way radio to get instructions from the ground if we done anything wrong.
All i heard was great recovery no4. this caused me a bit of concern, but i knew she had recovered.
During traing, we covered what would happen if the ling jammed and the chute did not open. they would go up to 8000ft this meant you would be pulled up 4000ft the instructor would signal he was going to cut the line. then you would feel yourself fall. Then you had to cut away the main chute and pull the reserve. (peal Punch Pull Recover) obviously the recover bit had me thinking this is what had happened to Sally but after landing i discovered it was not so trivial.
I wanted to go right back up, but could not afford to do it.
Would love to do it again.
we each raised £500 for Devon Air Ambulance.
Superb Experience. Highly Recomend it.
I no longer fear heights.
