hi

im looking at getting some new tyres, i currently have some 215/40/17 on at the mo.
on ebay there some toyo t1s(think thats what they re called),
215/40/17 = £260 +20 p+p
205/40/17 = £220 free p+p

can someone tell me if its safe to put the 205s on, or should i stay well clear, for safety reasons, or is it that the 10mm difference isnt that crucial????????

just seems £60 for 10mm seems alot

cheers

Yeah 205's fine that's the typical profile for a 17" rim anyway

okay cheers, will go for the 205s then, see what happens lol.
looked up on toyos on here, some recommend them some dont, i currently have bridgestones potenzas.

do you know if this is an improvement or similiar or step back in all round quality?

you may affect your speedo, because by going down(215/205) a size will affect your sidewall(40), (40)sidewall is a percentage of 215. talk to Bob he can get tecnical... I`ve got 215/45ZR17 on mine before i change wheel i had 205/50R 16.

Well don't know about scoobies but on the pugs i found toyos to be fairly decent but the older t1r's really hated greasy conditions but are excellent for the price as are khumo ecstas bit of a harsh ride though

Also had bridgestone potenza pole position s02's now these are excellent shame you cant get em anymore and the s03's arent as good, but for me i loved pzero assymetricos as they constantly performed in all conditions and tread levels however some people i knew hated the things

You pays your money but for price the toyos are a good bet and what im thinking of getting for my new alloys later in the year

bridgestones potenzas are a better tyre than toyos... bridgestones is a primium tyre toyos are midle rage tyre, i`m not saying toyo is a bad tyre but they`re not has good has bridgestone...but bridgestone are more money...

Not to mention the performance bridgestones can wear shockingly fast, the tyres grip better as they wear but the compound becomes softer, it's the case with the top potenzas anyway

so basically the more you pay the better the tyre.

think i might try the toyos, see what they are like, i suppose everyone has theyre favourites. if i try then i can see for myself, as they say "you learn from your mistakes"

does an average tyre last a years driving? with a fair bit of hard driving? think ive had my bridgestones just over a year, they have only a bit of tread left

tyre is the only thing that keeps your car in contact with the road, allways buy the best ones you can aford...I had budget tyres on my car when i got it I had to change all four because i couldnt keep my car on the road(wet weather) , got some yokohamas and they good for the money,I`ve got falkens with my wheels and they dont seem to be bad...Now most tyre places are advising to chage your tyres on 3mm for safety resons, not for selling more tyres but because on wet weather you need extra 40meters to stop if your tyres are at 3mm or less, I had to see the report on that...
