whats more important to you.your cars 0 to 60 ability or its top end speed?.

Neither as it happens...lol
Always found that the most important part of a cars performance is the midrange punch...50-70 in 3rd or 70-90 in 4th , makes it a pleasure to drive if you can get these as close to 2-3 seconds as possible...
0-60 is only for the drag racers out there and who actually drives their car flat out on public roads anyway...
Only my opinion of course....lol

Having an RA, the Accelleration is Great, and only has a top end of 123 mph

Mine seems to pull all the way up but as Lee has said Midrange has to be the Ultimate, This is where you spend most of your time driving.

I have added in an extra choice into your poll.

That is True, however the Manufacturer usualy quotes midrange in the Full specs.

0 - 60 for drag racers ?????????????????????
f..k me you must be doing 1 minute terminals

0 - 125 MPH is what my drag racing is all about and should be mid 11s to get it

so long as it don't boil over

I was actually refering to the hard launch styles employed by both of these disciplines as beng of no interest to myself while testing customers cars.....
Real world situations don't allow you to do either of the original tests on the public roads , while the midrange tests can just about be done without upsetting plod too much...

my 0-60 has got worse since decatting due to overboost (turbo spools up and raises the inlet manifold pressure quicker than the standard boost control solenoid can keep up and open the wastegate on time. two choices here i guess - put a sports cat on to reign in the turbo a bit, or fit a better boost controller. ultimately i want it remapped, and i'll be looking for improvements in smoothness and torque from 0-60. I'm not bothered about ultimate power figures, but 300 brake would be a nice figure. I'd rather improve low end driveability if possible. mid range power, torque and boost are good with the car behaving well, but 1st gear is stupid.

thats cos the buying public are easily bought by such figures. unfortunate really. they're equally easily bought by top end power figures being the be all and end all. i'm not as interested in 0-60 as i am the torque and power curve through the rev range, especially at the top end of the revs where turbos can start to run out of puff. torque wins races. apparently.

scoobs and other 4wd cars fare pretty well on the drag strip cos of their grip, but for all that grip the hammer is thus transferred to the clutch - and if your clutch is beefcake - the the transmission takes it. i've seen a few gearboxes fall to bits on brand new cars on drag strips - much to many of the viewing publics delight i might add.

My dad always used to mess with the cars as i was little, when i used to say but why dad the car is fast any way he woulod say.. its not about how fast you go its how you get there! And until i passed my test i didnt have a clue what he was on about!! For me it how you get there definatly ! I love seein how fast i can pull away from the lights when there is some one in a "my car is faster than yours" next to me!!

On the other hand i used to have a 2,2vti prelude.. that was great pullig away at hi speeds!! But i still prefer the power when pulling away as long as the power doent stop!! Thats why i now have a scoobie!!!

mid range all the way. When i had the scoob mapped that was the noticable improvement and what keeps me happy day in day out.

mid range - don't have much opportunity to overtake on some of our lanes & you need it to respond asap when you ask for it

acceleration for me through the gears :) 0-100. KMH of course ;)

it's got to be the mid-range power, for the overtaking purposes. driving a nice a or b road is only fun if you've got the punch in the mid-range! and the brakes. can't beat a brilliant set of brakes and well set up suspension more than power though.

0 - 60 & top end aftrer driving the evo the 0 to 60 is awsome and also the top end still being able to over take in 5th gear is good to doing 140 mph and still could fill it pulling for more lol ( I LOVE IT ALL ) speed speed speed ( I WANT MORE POWER ) lol
