Dont want to upset you all, but have you ensured that you have club insurance for the shows?????

look into this, as the club will need their own insurance at shows.
Previously the club would have been covered by SIDC.
I have been looking into this. Tesco's (my insurance) say the cars are covered no mater where they are with exception of the track.
Castle Coombe say we do not need insurance.
I am waiting for replys to other events we will be going to.
But I have been with 12 differant forums at shows/events for almost 10 yrs now and it seems none of them have ever had insurance for these events.

i would have thought public liabilty is a must in case a member of the public injures themselves.

Members of the public have paid the show organisers to see the show. Its up to the show organisers to ensure there saftey.

Insurance
Exhibitors are required to take out the necessary insurance against fire and all other risks including third party claims. The exhibitor must also indemnify the
Event Organisers against all claims, damages or expense whatsoever in writing in any way arising out of their attendance or exhibits at the Showground. The
completed booking form for a trade stand shall be deemed as confirmation by the Exhibitor that the necessary insurance cover has been obtained and the Exhibitor
agrees to indemnify the Event Organisers and their staff against all and any claims which may arise. South West Motor Show Ltd and Newton Abbot
Racecourse are not responsible for any damage, theft or loss under any circumstance to any property/goods belonging to an Exhibitor.

JD i have already contacted Show Organisers last year when i was doing S-O-R and we DO NOT require any Liability insurance.
I will go throught the paperwork i recieved from Castlecombe today and see what that says, and contact them tomorrow.
However I was previously Informed that it is the responsibility of the Show Organisers to have Liability insurance, Not the individual clubs.
If we were to host our own track days at CC then we would be the Organisers and would need Liability Insurance.

All info I have from Combe says we are covered by their insurance.

Yes we as show organisers have our public liability insurance for the show etc.
I believe that some clubs take it as piece of mind and the likes of the RSOC they have it to cover their groups that organise shows on their behalf.
I have sent a very detailled reply to this matter to the committee via Pauline and Bob
Please feel free to ask me any questions

Okay then, if we are 'covererd' by the various show organisers, then WHY do we need our own? I mean if some air head trips over my badly parked scoob in the local supermarket, and sues me, then im covered up to 1 million on my car insurance. Just because we are up at Combe and on a piece of grass, then WHY do we need separate insurance.
Simple for a blonde lady to read and understand please.
I have just posted a detailled reply to the committee
please shout if you want any further details or clarification

Ive read it but im still confused.......
Was EVERY event that SWS attended last year coverered by the SIDC Insurance?
As you know, we didnt attend any SWS events last year, we went with Scoobyzone, who I can confirm DID NOT have any insurance.
Events are covered on an event basis
So for example the southwest motor show last year Jacqui advised of the show
a generic risk assement was produced
A set of questions asked
i.e. what equipment would be used
Marquee yes
Ensure marquee is adequatly secured
Guidlines suitably marked
Display Boards yes
Ensure suitably secured
ETC ETC
Then I would add it to the list for insurers

That reminds me. I have all the forms to make up an generic risk assement.

No of course not. We did charity meets as SWS. and meets like SL's nursery would not have been covered I'm sure. Wish the spectators also had insurance could have sued the lad that throw up in my motor at the autistic event. Will we need seperate insurance for the monthly meets as well? As in the summer we get crowds of folks wondering round the cars.

Ok People, i Spoke with Wendy at Footman James, 2 Million liability would setus back £180+Tax.
however this would not give us any cover for shows with more than 1000 Spectators.
shows like this will be Extra.
Wendy is sending out a form to us, not sure how much extra large events will be.

Personally I feel it a waste of money if thats the case.........
But thats my humble opinion......some 10,000 people go to rally day alone (if the sun shines)
I agree with what Bob has said.
I do not see us as SWS will be getting any more than a 1000 at any event. There may be 10's of thousands at the event but only a small proportion will attend our stand.

I queried this, and this is not our spectators at the event, but the Total Number of people on the Show ground.

Nah....10's of thousands WILL attend our stand LOL

Brilliant, thanks Chris
So we must insure folks who do not even come to our stand....Even with a closed stand the price would be the same then... Think its all b@ll@cks myself.

have to agree with bob there, it's another moneyspinner for the insurance companies
The thing is Japfest, performance day and other CC events is just really a car park for us to park up while visiting the track. We do not have BBQ's we sale nothing to the public, so more go to the burger van than come to us. Personally I find it no differant parking with the door dingers like we did last year.
Footman James are a good company indeed they quoted us last year
Please don't assume I think its right that we need insurance
I just don't want some smart lawyer taking my house away because someone tripped over a guid line
Footman James have a specialist Department as indeed do our company for CAR CLUBS Kinder somes it up IMHO
