Hi

I currently own a 200sx which is roughly 290bhp but have been offered a uk spec scooby as a swap which i'm tempted by. Think its a My99? Its the classic shape...

Now whats the route to normaly take with these and what kind of power can you gain? Breathing mods first but then what? HOw hard is it to hit 300 bhp?

300 is easy bud

breathing mods as you say , K+N57i , decat downpipe , then full system from DP back,,,
then a turbo , you have a td04, you also have 440cc injectors which are good for 300 bhp

go for a a td04 hybrid or a td05/16g(as fitted to wrx) or for a bit more then a vf24 , 28 or 34
the 24 and 28 are fitted to sti's 94-00 , the vf34 is fitted to the sti7 JDM RA
i have the vf34 and make 348 bhp with 362 lbs/ft torque

then get a remap , bob rawle developments(swindon) or alan jeffrey(plympton)
TEK 3 is what you want.

anymore than 325/325 then look into the gearbox as it won't last long
i ran 345/345 for a while but then fitted the PPG gearsets, straight cut
and the clutch , you'll need an exedy organic from lateral performance

prevention is better than a cure in my book

Well it was RR'd with 238bhp @ the rear wheels so you do the maths...

Why do you ask?

After you drive a scoob you dont want to go back to your 200sx...dont take me wrong i do like the 200sx... scoob`s a nicer drive and sound a lot better....

I've driven my bro's scoob Sti 4 loads of times so i know what theyre like to drive...;) How do u mean theyre better to drive? And sound doesnt come into my choice of cars....lol

Dont get me wrong, i like both cars. Just want to know how you mean?

Bob, they are quick cars in the right hands as you seem to know. With rolling starts theyre up there with the best of jap cars. :)

Still do fancy a scoob though. Just not sure whether to make the change? Think it will have to be a sti though..

I have has 2 13's and 1 14 all 3 tuned slighty. Great fun cars and on an open road will stay with the scoobs no problem. However they are tail happy but you learn to live with this. So across Exmoor or on a track they are struggling to stay with the scoobs. I always go back to the scoobs in the end..Find them a much more fun car and so much easier to drive...If you know what I mean.. Must admit thought the 1800 and 2000 nissan turbo engine is a stong old lump which will take a good hammering...

Nice! I think i'm going to have to do some test driving tbh. I'm tempted by a type R....

I know what your saying about the back end too! I can see why they use them as drift cars...:rolleyes1: I've got a few things in place that help and it didnt seem to do too badly against my bro's scoob across the mendips..

The only thing that puts me off scoobs is the imports are expensive to insure!!

My P1 was £750 to insure at Tesco's
My Type R was £420 at Tesco's

More or less the same car...I was shocked when I had the bill for the Type R had to check the doc's and phone Tesco's saying I think they made a mistake but no the import was cheaper than the UK.

You`ve got a very nice car, like i told you i do like the 200sx, i did like to drive the sx,i`ve done a test drive on a sx before i got my scoob, and i liked the scoob better...but i always liked scoobs anyway, after i drove one i had to get one... and i do love the sound of a scoob, i probably test drive the wrong sx?
