Yes.

it will overboost, however their are ways to prevent the overboost.
You can fit either a Manual boost controller (MBC ~ Dawes Device)
or a similar electronic boost controller.

it is difficult to calculate the amount of overboost as their are varying factors, like ACT (Air Charge Temperatures) the colder it is outside the better the car goes and the more likly it is to overboost.
i have also found different exhausts cause different amounts of overboost, also the turbo you are running can account for some of the overboost also.
I would try and fit the electronic controller back up.

have you looked on the back of it for a name? maybe put up a pic and someone may recognise it.
are you using a FMIC or a TMIC?
fitting an ACT gauge would mean drilling and tapping a thread into a TMIC, or if using a FMIC, a hole could be drilled in one of the intercooler pipes and a thread welded in place to screw the sensor in.
I am sure most Gauge shops will sell these. or maybe get them on eBay.
I hope to start selling Gauges etc soon.

What is an FMIC and aTMIC i just would like to fit a temp gauge in to a hose before the throttle body and afte da intercooler maybe even in to the intercooler what are these called i do need one for my car

FMIC = Front Mount Intercooler
TMIC + Top mount Intercooler
as i said, TMIC i would drill and tap a thread into the intercooler, i suppose you could also do this with a FMIC, just need longer wiring.
i done a search for ACT Gauges, and found Blitz do a Temp Gauge that does any temp, so it looks like they are all the same, Just some have water or oil temp writen on them.
FMIC=front mount intercooler
TMIC= Yes you guessed it, Top mount intercooler...:wink:
Did you look at the link I put up about temp gauges and probes?
Cheap Gauges...

the Blitz mirror drive ones are awesome, but they do not come cheap. just under £200
the EGT is not required, and can be removed without any ill effect.
I bought a XS power Turbo up pipe, this had the fitting for two lamba sensors and an EGT sensor.
Pre96 (I think) has the O2 sensor in the exhaust headers. It moved to the downpipe for MY96.
If you have a MY96 you should find a LAMBDA sensor at the top of downpipe you can see this from under the bonnet. This must be replaced most downpipes have a stabbing for this.
Pre 96 had the Lambda in exhaust headers and a cat on fire sensor 18" down on the downpipe. This one can be removed and forgot about...

i have the lambda sensor in the headers on mine so about the exhaust temp sensor is this vital cause someone said that they dont have to be fitted. And do you no of any cheaper air temp sensor and gauge?

The EGT is 100% removable. just bin it lol
I do not know of any cheaper ones, but if you check i think you will find they are the same as the water ones. (Not 100%) but if you do some research, call a few gauge shops i am sure they can advise.
