Hi everyone,
We have purchased the New server, and i am in th process of transferring everything over.
I have disabled a few more features on this site.
Attatchments and Image Hosting.
I have done this to prevent any attatchments or images being lost in the transfer.
I will enable them on the new server.
I am trying to minimise downtime, and this seems the easiest way for me to do this.
Please bear with us, we will be on the new server soon.
a few of us are Tesing the server while i am transferring everythin, and i can confirm it seems Very fast.

is it just me or is the system clock out ? Posts show as being 1 hour later than GMT
Like it for a day or two now....Don't think its worth looking at as we will be moving soon and I see the new server's clock is right...:party0040:

lol, and i have just had to delete everything, as their were corrupt files during the transfer.
http://89.107.56.33/%7Eadmin/test_forum/images/smilies/eek.gif
however, i just done in under 10 mins what it took me Days to do http://89.107.56.33/%7Eadmin/test_forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
when i installed some files that were needed for the forum to work, their was instructions how to retrieve these files from the company's server.
and how to install them.
well i had a think and i thought, mmm i wonder if i could.... Naah it wont work.
Fu(k it i will give it a go, so i decided to try and copy the server backup from hosting-unlimited using shell comands. over to the New Server.
and Fu(k me if it did not work, about 5 mins to transfer over.
now i used the command gunzip to extract the backup to where we needed it.
i logged in and the entire contents of the old server are Now on the New server.
lol, if only i knew this days ago. http://89.107.56.33/%7Eadmin/test_forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif
as i have been restricted by the slow upload speed of my computer. and using up, a sh** load of my monthly Bandwidth limit. :sad-smiley-046: have used over half of this months limit already. Just hope Bt do not charge me for going over this month.
its a learning Curve for me and i have learned a lot in the few days i have been operating the server.
I transferred s-o-r.co.uk & scoobieownersregister.co.uk domains over to the new server on the 1st, but it can take upto 72 hours for them to link properly.
So i will wait for one of them to work before i transfer southwestscoobies.org.uk
otherwise their will be no access for 72 hours.
at least we can give the members the s-o-r.co.uk address to use for a few days.
it might cause some people issues by logging them out untill the main southwestscoobies one becomes active.
