Who belives in global warming then? Nt the principle, that is of course true, But the governments stance that our fuel consumption has a signifigacant effect.

Your right, ive never heard anyone say that you can drive it :hysterical: :hysterical: :hysterical:
if its true then the government`s got it all wrong mate
global warmings happening much faster than they expected!
Why else would the weather have been so strange the last few years,
Summers are warmer and longer etc.
There is a ice age every 10 - 15,000 years but we are long overdue one.
It starts with global warming......................

Thats not quite true sis mid engand was still in an ice age 8000 years ago. Bristol Wud have been under an awfull lot of ice. But we are geting close!
How come I remember playing out in the street as a kid for the whole of the summer holidays in the sun and having school closed over the winter cos of snow drifts, im sure its not that bad now, but my memory has been tainted by the demon booze.
And the fact that I used to summer in Spain and winter in Aspen may have clouded my perception.
No your are right M8, when I was a kid every day was a scorcher while on the summer school holidays. Always had hot holidays no mater when we chose to go. Now you are more likely to have rain and wind on the summer holiday.

With the snow we had down here the other month? dam rights theres something going on, and thats to do with global warming. Its been getting warmer as the years go by less and less snow, and then a massive blizzard from no where that puts the whole of cornwall out of action. Though the government do go ott at times.
And its been quite mild the last few days. You've seen Day after tomorrow. TV never lies.

we have Ice ages every 10 - 15000 years - Global warming dont make me laugh - Are they gonna tell me that Dinosaurs never farted:hysterical: :hysterical: :hysterical: .............Earth goes thru phases - its warming up to get cold again..............There is nothing dodgy about the weather even though mankind may have speeded up the cycle a bit........Just Natures way

Natures way of scratching at this parasite that buggers up the climate & the world by trying to kill each other.

Have to say I'm with Ed on this one
In it's 4.6 billion year history the Earth has been through massive changes in climate - there are many cycles of different periods at work; axial wobble, north Atlantic conveyor switching, solar flare activity, vulcanism, meteorite strike......some can effect changes over just afew years, other have cycles of millions of years. The climate is such a huge, complex, chaotic system it's virtually impossible to predict whole effects. You have comflicting effects such as green house gases vs. screening by pollution. We have actually been in a very stable, relatively cold period for a few thousand years and are overdue for a change. Man's growth and industrial pollution over the last 100 years will have had some effect but until someone pulls all the various climate system models together, we'll never know how to what extent. If we are a large factor, it's WAY too late to do anything about it now - we still have to feed & house 6 billion people, that takes energy. What are you gonna do ?

I'm with Ed on this too
The result in this warming will be the movement/stopping of the Gulf stream which will in turn lead to a decline in temperatures to an eventual ice age.

So we agree that global warming is an natuarl event that jus happens. The big iusse is that we are running out of fuel and the government is trying to preserve it by using other excuses, such a s global warming!

Nah...the government are trying to preserve it by putting the prices up.....it's pretty obvious due to our consumption of fossil fuels over the last 50yrs or so that we don't give a toss about global warming.

The problem is that oil production will peak in 2007. That is to say there is plenty of oil on the planet but it will no longer be cost effective to retrive it.
Teh government has had this predicted to them since the 1980 and hence the invironment laws and constraints started to come in, under the guies of protecting the invironment. As well as most of the speeding and safetly bolocks its not there to save lives etc its jus to stop us using fuel.

At the end of the day we have to find ways of making more fuel thru science rather than fossil...........20 - 30 years there will be more wars over dwindling fuel reserves - we gotta find a way now to create artificial fuel
Dspeed

Its going to be sooner than that ed. Those figures refer to the remaing oil on the planet if used at the vurrent consumption. Wt they dont say is that 80% of wts left out there will cost more and more to get!

mate - in 30 - 40 years time 10% + of the planet s population will be wiped out due to something rather nasty - then we will finally learn
