Was thinking of a IHI VF34 with 550cc injectors, anybody tried one of these or should i be thinking of something else?

Had this Turbo on the Type R with STD injectors it ran 320 bhp. Daz is also running one of these at about 346 bhp.
I stepped up to the TD05/6 20g for 383 bhp but they say a 18g is best for the 2ltr.

i've got 320 bhp on my VF28 but it's run outta puff so anymore and i've gotta change the turbo. i thought the VF34 was good for about 380bhp?

Not a chance...

I'll have to have a little think about it, i've gotta sort the brakes & suspension first anyway. Thanks again for your help.
Saw your car yesterday at Japfest, very nice!

vf34 - good for iro 350/350 with supporting mods (like mine)
td05 18g - good for iro 370/365 , once again with supporting mods
i don't know what other mods you've done but you do know that clutch, gearbox, brakes, suspension aren't cheap
i've spent IRO £17000 on mine now (3k for gearbox alone) and that's without uprating the internals , that's the next job once i decide whether or not to go 2.5

Yeah i know it had a re-build last year,
New block
forged pistons
uprated conrods
version 9 crank
ported heads
piper cams
group A gasket set
uprated fuel pump
new oil pump, oil cooler etc
headers
de-cat
uprated clutch
gearbox internals checked
forge BOV
blitz FMIC
Ecutek remap
It's just that the turbo & injectors are on the limit now and the next things to change enginewise.

ahhh right,., well with them supporting mods i'd go for a td05-18g
ditch the BOV and you should be looking at 370 ish
could go for a 20g and get an extra 15-20 but alot more lag

Looking at the graphs between the 18g and 20g there seems no differance in lag. But the 18g is recommended for the 2ltr and 20g for 2.5 however I do know lads with the 20g on the 2ltr and find it great...Step in JD...
Could have swore I posted this before but...The limit with these mods are 350ish BHP The MAF will not read anymore airflow than this with the classic. A stand alone ECU is required to go above this...Motec,Gems Altronic etc.

JD's is exceptional......it just keeps pulling....

& pulling & pulling.
not really noticed lag as a problem, just keep it nailed.

what do you mean by get rid of the BOV? looks like i'll aim for about 350bhp & 350lb/ft then, i don't want to change the ECU or destroy the gearbox! just a little more would be nice tho!
Think what dazza is saying is the top rally cars do not use a dump valves, the pressure is sent back through the turbo. This can give better responce and the inlet is always presserised up.
It also has an effect on the life of the turbo as the turbo is spinning at very high speed and as you come off throttle the pressure is suddenly sent back through the turbo the other way. But top rally team do not mind putting new turbos on there cars every now and then.
If 350/350 is whats required I would go for....
TD05/6 18g
550 injectors.
Tec 3 remap.
As I said going over the MAF limitations (350 ish) will need another ECU then its gearbox and the money just disapears...

yep, agree with that
forgot about the MAF issues
specially on a 99-00
i have the vf34, which is a pretty good turbo but if i got the td05/18g then i'd ditch the bov as the td range are alot tougher than the vf
however, olly P has a vf with no bov and his is fine
