when i was driving to work this mourning, i noticed that the hand brake light was on (the I in a circle in brackets), so i pulled over and checked the hand brake and that is working fine, it dosn't stick or any thing weird just i can't get the light to go off, any idea's as to what this could be, i'm hoping it's just a sticky connection or some thing minor.
any help would be great
regards
jim

check your brake fluid level.
had the same problem with mine trace the earth wire back through carpet from handbrake swith to drivers side kick panel it will be loose and when connection is broken light will come on on dashpod (hope this helps)

I agree with JD it sounds like brake fluid is low.

got the same prob :(
had my springs changed 2 day so that explains it :)
i had a problem like that and dazzer sorted it out for me
something to do with the seal inside the brake cap had popped up or down cant rememeber now, but they pushed it back as it should have and sorted the problem
as there are no wear indicator wires on the handbrake shoes and the brake fluid level indicator warning light refers to the hydrolics ie foot brake not the manually opperated hand brake there is only 2 answers as to why ure light is on / handbrake switch knackered or break in wiring

hmmm just checked the break fluid and its full[the garage filled it up]
lights still on as above do u think that it could be the cap?
was fine this moring before i had me springs and wheels done.
pm dazzer and he should be able to help more
look at the cap and i think it might need pushing up

it depends what year the car is, on kris' old scooby, we just pushed the seal on the cap up, but on kris' current car its different.
old car was a P reg i think
current car is a S reg.
if its an older classic then see if the cap seal is hanging down.
otherv than that check the posts above
