View Full Version : Most unreliable Scoob
Thought I would pop up a poll to see what others think. Please vote on your experiances and what you have heard, you do not have to have owned the car.
Its very rare a scoob goes wrong and I have full confidence I could jump in mine travel to Scotland run round up there for a week and return with no problems. I expect most of you feel the same. (not you scoobylove tyres don't count..:hysterical: )
When a scoob goes wrong its usually with a pop and its goodnight scoob. What scoob do you think lets go more than any other scoob?
My vote would have to go to the P1. I got so worried I sold mine back to the dealer after only a few months of ownership. Tiley's had them queing up for engine changes and to think they only made 1000 of um. Mine did go pop only a month after I sold it back to them. When I see P1's for sale most say new engine fitted. To be honest I no longer know anyone running a P1 with original engine...:frown:
So what do others think?

yes heard the WR1 is one to avoid, nothing but trouble.
aparently the Suspension starts out nice and soft, then all of a sudden it becomes all hard and crashy making for a very uncomfortable ride.
on top of that they break down all the time.

good idea Bob, as i have nice soft suspension i could always swap the suspension with you, then you can have a much softer ride.

as i have the Light weight Ra suspension, it would suit Bobs car well.
I would love some coilovers for mine.

From what I have heard my vote goes eo the P1
Never had any serious problems with my old WRX and, as Pauline says, still running good.
Only owned one though so don't have much experience with different models etc but it's like any car, if well looked after they should be fine.
Did not add the imports to the list only UK cars. Thought it a little unfair to add cars that are not made for UK fuel.

Good point but the way my car ran was a testament to the Subarus engineering since I never had fuel problems even on SU.
WR1s are a bit dodgy though:smile:
Yes most imports run perfectly well once they have been mapped or had the ECU changed to suit UK fuel.
WR1's mapped by Prodrive..P1's mapped by Prodrive...
Oh dear.....:frown: :frown: :frown:

I think the cons are stacking up against the WR1:smile:

engine check lights on/off get a read misfire or cam sensor have changed all four now!!!!!!!! learnt to ignore it now!!!!! my nissan 200sx cel has never come on despite heavy mods!!!! big heavy car though!!!!!and dont go round bends!!!
Went in Tileys yesterday and watched as then renewed another P1 engine. I asked the mechanic (Dave) if he knew of any P1's sold by then that are still on the original engine...His answer was "Can't think of any..no I don't think there is.":hysterical: :hysterical: :hysterical:
I must say that this is a little harsh . . . I've had my WR1 for almost a year now and had virtually no trouble whatsoever. Only issue is a hose that perished!

you've got it wrong bud...we've been winding Bob up as he's just got a WR1!!......

Boost hoses was a recall about that.
Wasn't sure about the wind up so I had to jump in and rescue Bob.
Indeed there was, but mine has gone again!!
I have asked for a set of braided hoses as a free upgrade but they are none to willing!!
Not sure if you know Bob, but there is a WR1 owners club site (www.wr1oc.co.uk (http://www.wr1oc.co.uk)), hope to see you there soon.

Tiley's of Bristol had mine on ramps and checked it over was also told about the boost hoses but looks like mine have already been done.

:hysterical: :hysterical: :hysterical: Funny you should say that..The P1 never went pop with me...:hysterical: :hysterical: :hysterical:
I bought the P1 at the same time as a mate (Nozzer) I went catless (309bhp) but nozzer just changed back box. After 6 months I sold mine back to dealer as I was a little worried seeing the P1's lined up waiting for engine change..They were all done free on warrentee anyway. But Nozzer kept his for a few years. done many a high speed run across the moors and tracked it very very often. Not a bit of trouble. Both our cars were raced theough the gears hitting speeds of 130-135 at Castle coombe. What we never did was hold then at over the ton for long periods..

I've been told not to hold her at high speeds for long periods of time! Dunno about the previous owners but im treating this one with a bit of respect! Treat them how you should treat us women! hahaha! :hysterical: :hysterical: :hysterical:

It was proven some time back that the classic bonnet scoop does next to nothing at speeds below 30 and above 100mph So once the Classic's are held at over the ton the cooling for the intake rises very repidly. As the PI rev's to 8000 and the mapping is questionable, It seems the P1 is prone to high speed runs.
On the track the P1's are raced to very high speeds but not held at that speed most the time they drop to 40-50 mph for bends alowing the intake to cool.
