Robocop and a few other members in this area have done a recce on a pub in the local area that we could use as a meeting point once a month.
The pub is the Compass at Tormarton and we will meet here on the first Sunday of every Month at 1 pm. The pub has good parking good food and is ok for kids.

Lovely day and was great to meet lucy and dell and their friends and children, also lovely to see glynn from wales and his wife cathy.

Wonderful to see neil after such a long time - please dont be a stranger!

shame about the food and rudness of staff towards some members of things as it put a bad atmosphere to the later part of the event and ed, ian, and i ended up with a mcdonalds on way home and mum didnt eat as at 2.30 we were told of a 1 hour wait for food !

Would members consider a new venue? Bob, big knd and beachsleeper all said about one towards bristol, I think it was the bridge inn at yatten

Can I ask why we are thinking of changing the venue?

From my understanding, the monthly meet needs to have continuity and that is why I suggested the first Sunday of the month and after offering up some initial places, decided on the Compass at Tormarton.

Prior to this, we didn't have any regularly agreed monthly meeting point. The idea behind keeping it at the same place, time and location is so that people know well in advance when and where this is going to take place. The problem before it became regular, to be frank, was that it was bit shambolic if we are all honest about it.

Since the first one at Tomarton when myself and a few others attended (Pontins was on IIRC), it has got bigger and bigger.

I'm not adverse to democracy in as far as people suggesting a different venue, but in doing so we risk wasting all the good work achieved so far. Personally speaking and some may call me selfish, but I’d be disappointed if things start to change; it‘s good to have some stability.

Broxi

I believe the change of Venue was down to the problems we had with the food orders at the last meet their.

Let down once and people are looking at changing.

If this had happened everytime we went there, I'd understand.

bob
24-07-2006, 12:31 41
Don't think it was the misshaps with the food as we would expect a few problems with 20-30 peeps all ordering at the same time.. But a few members did not like the way the staff were treating them. Our members were told it was there fault for ordering food. And what ever you do, do NOT ask for ice...:annoying_cut:

I agree

I'am also okay with a majority decision but can understand if we start chopping and changing venues each month things will get disjointed etc.

I hope everyone can come to a decision on this soon:smile:

bob
24-07-2006, 14:59 01
At the last meet at the compass we were asked to send in orders a few days before the meet. I don't know if this will work as we get quite a few turn up at last min decisions. Perhaps we could phone and just say how many will be there. Hope they do not mean for us to order our food in advance..

Olly P
24-07-2006, 15:23 04
Did you book for 30 people to eat food? If not then I think you were expecting too much, if you did book then it is out of order.
I think the idea behind the monthly meets is that you don't have to commit to it 2 months in advance, or pay for it. You can just turn up if your free.
How about a central meeting place, which isn't a pub, and then a casual cruise to a pub.
In that way we could always keep the venue the same, but could change the pub if we needed to.

Olly P

You shouldn't have to pre order, its 30 not 300. If you let them know approx numbers and time, it should be ok provided the pub is big enough to cope.
Sounds to me like the management saw alot of money but didn't bother to get more staff in, hence why the staff were p*ssy.

I say stick with the Compass for now. Let see what happens at the next meet. If all goes well, we stay, If it goes pear shape we take our money somewhere else. Maybe we need to start a new thread or proon this one,

Lets see if we can arrange a list of whos coming and phone them to let them know numbers. and take it from there.

Robocop your right abought the consistency part. more and more people are attending and if we change that it will fade away again.

even if we all go and have a drink their rather than a meal. we could stll attend the same venue.

(i might just bring a packed lunch so i know what im getting in future)

not that im reccomending that:lol:
