I belive they are the same but not 100% on that.

Why is one of the rods us? I would ask as the damage/failure to the rod may have transmittted to the piston bearing.

Definately check for signs of damage/det round the edges of the pistons.

well goin up saturday so will have a good look got another engine to look at saturday as well which is complete.i did phone my local subaru dealer and to rebuild my engine all the parts would set me back £650 inc vat ie: rebore, set of over sized pistons + rings, big end bearings and complete gasket set.which i didnt think was to bad so will try and rebuild 1 good engine out the 2 i will have then set about rebuilding whats left with new parts just need something to get me back on the road.

That price doesn't sound bad....only £50 more than what I've been quoted by the Renault dealers in Bath for doing my canbelt on the 172:eek:

What brand were they Phil ?

I know HKS internals are expensive and Arrow & Crower rods/pistons for the Impreza.

I bet the pistons for my F4R Renault are a grand each from a Renault dealer:hysterical:

well dont need the doner block now as i've got mine stripped and have just cracked the edge of no4 piston and it has'nt damaged the bore have also found that 2 inlet valves on the other side need new springs as you can push them down with ya finger which would explain the horrible rattle it had.
