The FIA Formula Two Championship (http://response.pure360.com/_act/link.php?mId=C8332570377889784935156305311&tId=34613152) makes its debut at Valencia, Spain this weekend (29/30/31 May) – and you can follow the inaugural weekend live on TV and through the F2 website.
Formula Two is run and promoted by MotorSport Vision, which also operates the British Superbike and Formula Palmer Audi championships.
The 25 new Williams JPH1 Formula Two cars have already completed three days of testing in the build up to the championship’s opening round and the field is extremely competitive – in Snetterton testing, little over a second separated the top 20 drivers.
The remarkably low budget of £195,000 has attracted a capacity grid with an average driver age of just 21-years-old, featuring international race winners from across the world.
This year’s line-up includes three sons of former F1 drivers – Alex Brundle, Henry Surtees and Jolyon Palmer – plus three current champions and four drivers who have already tested in Formula One.
The championship promises to reward racecraft and encourage overtaking, as each car has 400bhp as standard, with a top speed of over 180mph and an overboost button that delivers a six second shot of 450bhp.
You can follow the championship at the official website www.formulatwo.com (http://response.pure360.com/_act/link.php?mId=C8332570377889784935156305311&tId=34613153), whilst races will be broadcast live or slightly delayed on Eurosport.
Race one will be broadcast this Saturday on Eurosport 2 at 17.00 BST, with race two live on Eurosport & HD at 12.45pm.
Formula Two will make its UK debut at Brands Hatch on 18/19 July alongside the FIA World Touring Car Championship. Discounted tickets are now available from £24 for adults, with free entry for children aged 12 and under.
