View Full Version : How much power can you get from a Turbo 2000 ECU

Hey Guys

I've got a UK Turbo 2000 (its actually a Dutch Import, but UK otherwise) on a '99 plate.

I'd like to know if its possible to remap the UK spec ECU, and if so to what power? I don't particularly want to change the ECU for insurance purposes, but a recent ECU reset has seen a noticeable increase in power and response.

Mod wise the car is only using a Green Panel Filter and an Afterburner Back Box. I'm not planning any further mods as I'd rather start saving for a Spec C.

Cheers

all depends on your supporting mods
my my00 is 347 bhp on the stock ecu with tek3

True, but yours is an STI.

In theory with the centre section changed on my car the mods should be good for 230 to 240 bhp (apparently), the question is if I then go for a remap what can I take that too? Can you even remap the Turbo 2000 ECU for starters?

Daz has a UK not a STI....
The UK MY99 can be remapped with Tec 3.
The more mods you do the more power you get...
If the cats were removed I would expect 270-280 bhp from your car. With the cats still in place a remap is not really worth having. So expect 250-260 bhp.

Is that an STI bumper on a UK Turbo then?

Ok so you reckon it could be running at 250 or so already? I've not had it on the rollers yet, but i was thinking I might. Presumeable if I removed the centre cat I would need to put it back on for MOTs etc.

I thought the STi ones had a lip spoiler and the light covers, please correct me if I am wrong.

Does anyone know of the web address for interpro?

you only need 1 cat for the mot
if you keep just the centre then make sure it's hot for the test.

my UKmy00 is just under 350bhp on standard ecu

Lip spoilers and light covers can be added after.

I was thinking of replacing the centre one with a straight through pipe leaving just the downpipe cat, will that be good enough for the MOT?

Olly, I was just wondering how much a power run is likely to be do you know off the top of your head?

I wouldn't like to say off the top of my head.
For an RR shootout its about 25 quid, but to book it in individually may be more.

Downpipe cat is fine for an MOT mate - mine went through easy yesterday.
- As for power figs, i've got a UK my99 with the prodrive kit - have replaced the filter for a Blitz panel and got a magnex straight-thru centre section and afterburner b/b - has made 257bhp on the rollers.

Agree

Downpipe cat on it's own will be fine
