View Full Version : Fiesta hillclimb car
One of my mates bought a fiesta that was used for hillclimbing last year that had been pretty much gutted but still had the rollcage, seat, engine block and gearbox left in it. Since then we`ve been rebuilding it so that we can hopefully hillclimb it in August. Since we`ve been working on it, its had a new wiring loom, inlet manifold, exhaust sytem, full external respray (the internal respary is in progress) and a few other small bits done.
All it needs now iirc, is a fuel pump and an air filter and we`re good to go. We did have it running but believe we`ve blown the fuel pump so we`re tryin to source one locally for as cheap as possible.
The car is an 1800cc Zetec which is good for about 100bhp and has done a 38.4 second run on our local hillclimb track.
Last year it looked like this to start off with:

until it was written off and reshelled so it looked like this:

And now, after an entire litre of paint and some polish, it looks like this:

well spotted mate, you can see them better in the other thread about the scoob
In time honoured tradition, the bodywork is almost finished. At the moment all we have left externally is to tidy up the scuttle panel( or at least thats what I think its called) and finish painting the roof matt black and get a set of wheels wide enough to fit our slicks on.
Our biggest problem at the moment is that despite having it running not too long ago we`ve now got no spark again so unfortuantely it looks like we`re going to have to fiddle around with the wiring until we get it right :( Damn Zetec`s are a nightmare, but if all else fails we have been offered a 1600cvh engine with 160bhp roughly to go in the car and we`ll be ready to go.
Finally, the most recent pictures:

And finally, my mate, whenevr he`s done autocross has always had written on his car somewhere mr. K and so we found a place to do it on this one:

cant think of any of hand, if i see any when im in the works van i'll crash into it, lol

Cheers, its been quite good so far, trying to sort all the wiring out has been a bit of a nightmare but as it turns out that was my mates fault as the mondeo wehbought for the loom was dumped with the key. Unfortunately, you need the key for the immobiliser :( So we`re on the look out for either a 1800cc mondeo fusebox and key or an entire fiesta loom with fusebox
the initial hope was to have the fiesta ready for the local hillclimb on august 9th. However it became apparent that this would not be manageable and my mate already had his entry in. So, the fiesta will now be raced next year, but for the time being he has bought a new hillclimb car:

I bet there`s a few on here that have no idea what it is lol

Is that a Fiat x1/9?
it is indeed an x1/9 but with wide arches and tuned engine in it. Majority of it is fibreglass now too :)
