As most are aware with the resent theft of the Newage White STI. A bit concerned as to the tracker?
We have a newage sti with tracker fitted. Why was the tracker not picked up as with ours we can immobilize the engine via mobile phone etc etc
Just curious to know if this is a issue with the newages or what ?????

word of advise
if they want it they will get it
i know people who use scanners to remove trackers, which also top car thieves use as well
try not to worry about it as it will always play on your mind and if the worst does happen then u got your insurance

you can also disable a tracker with tin foil.... Just cover 1 of 2 locations with a layer and it does not send or receive any signal....
Waste of Money.
As mentioned. their are scanners that locate them... and you would find the tracker lying on your drive and the car gone if they want the car....
I have found the best deterrent is the Disklock as in security tests it withstood over an hour of attacks... Best £70 i ever spent...
A car theif was told if he could get the disklock off without making too much noise as to attract attnetion... he could keep the car... Escort Cosworth...this was a few years ago... he failed... and said the only way he could have removed it was with a petrol grinder... but it would have made so much noise the police would be their before he had taken the car.

yes i spoke to Revs in torquay and they said they had a brand new sti in only been lanuched in the country for three weeks and the thieves knew where the system was but were to slow in removing it before the owner sent the immoblise signal to the car and had also located it on the metasat system.

Trackers were great when they were first brought out.
When i worked for BMW i fitted loads on the M3's, M5's, X5's etc.
The problem is, that on each car model, they are usually all fitted in the same location, which means it doesnt take long for the information to get out where they're fitted and how to remove them.

Trackers, waste of money. Disklock, is the only way ahead.

imo if they want the car they will take it, in past experience its the people that fit them you have to watch

When I bought the WR1 the lad I bought it off told me he paid his tracker money on his credit card by phone. So I phones tracker and did the same. Sold the car to MicktypeWR1 as most of you know. When Mike inquired about the tracker getting the price etc. He was told the tracker was registered when the car was new but has not been renewed since.. So the owner before me paid £140 for nothing and I paid £140 for nothing. Oh and the tracker never even worked… I have no faith in the tracker people.

Had them check mine last year only to find it wasn't working and no idea how long I had been paying for a service I wasn't getting :mad0213: Then had to cough up £80 for a service call out :fuyou_2:

The fitters are not to blame. They do 3 tests when installing Trackers.
1st is the bench test to ensure all works fine before fitting
2nd is when fitted in car but all trims not re-fitted in case of probs.
3rd is when the car is back in its original state after fitting.
If all is working and receiving the signal after these 3 tests. Their job is done.

Just not good enough M8...If they had of switch mine on which they should have for the past 2 yrs they would have found out that mine was also not working. Bet they still would have done F all about it.

He's right. When I had it checked, there was no signal and it needed a service callout for it to be fixed. I had to complete neccessary paperwork before they would take my money which I pay by the quarter.
I too have a disclok which I try to use whenever its parked up.
Having had my previous car nicked, I decided to invest in some additional security measures. Unfortunately, plugging the door handles into the mains at night and adding side blasting flame throwers weren't allowed by law !!! DAMN !! So I fitted 'something else' instead....

the metasat syatem i have allows me to text car and see where it is, limit speed if i want, listen into conversations in the car, and it phones me with voice call as well as text when car i stolen, as sombody mentioned before.
but i agree that if they want it they will take it, my brother in law had his rs2000 low loaded from outside his work onlookers just thought it had broken down. they cut the hand brake cable and said they could not switch the alarm off.

my type ra does not have a tracker ( would never get one either ) only a clifford avant guard 5.5 alarm and immobiliser and is parked at night in my garage that is alarmed and has two security posts in front . but what idiot would steal a fully cusco graphic car that stands out like a sore thumb . so my advice is fit graphics that no-one else has locally . and live in a village with a crime rate of 0 where everyone looks out of there window when they hear a noise at night .
just dont ever get a tracker as they are easy to by-pass . disc locks are even removable also if you know how .
