View Full Version : My Sti3- bit by bit
First picked the car up in September having agreed to buy it a few months before with a blown headgasket. The car was delivered to enginetuner in Plymouth to have the heads reconditioned and a Simtek ecu fitted with optional antilag. Power at the time was recorded at 278 bhp and 270 lb/ft torque due to it having a slightly whiny turbo and an intercooler thats seen better days
Pics of when i first got it:

Once I got it back on the rock I gave it a good clean and got some better pics:

Bought a few new bits:
Front Mounted Intercooler that I got in a group buy on SIDC
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c79/1tiny05/intercooler.jpg
22b style bonnet vents, these are my xmas present from my mum though so I`m not allowed them yet :(

Looking really good M8....
Fitted my FMIC over xmas :) Seems to take a fair while to do lol
Took everything off first:
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c79/1tiny05/my%20scoob/sti/FMIC/DSC00330.jpg
Then I trial fitted my 22b bumper that I still haven`t prepped lol
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c79/1tiny05/my%20scoob/sti/FMIC/DSC00331.jpg
Fitted the FMIC:
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c79/1tiny05/my%20scoob/sti/FMIC/DSC00337.jpg
Got myself a new Induction kit so fitted that too:
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c79/1tiny05/my%20scoob/sti/FMIC/DSC00338.jpg
Then I found some old heating duct in my grandad`s workshop so I claimed that as a cold air feed :)
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c79/1tiny05/my%20scoob/sti/FMIC/DSC00339.jpg
When fitting the FMIC I found it easier to get the 22b bumper to fit so on it went:

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c79/1tiny05/my%20scoob/sti/FMIC/DSC00682.jpg
However, after a month of driving around with the 22b bumper fitted, I decided I didn`t like the quality of it. So at the weekend I chopped more of the sti bumper up and eventually got it to fit :)

Got some new pics of it. Eventually got round to fitting the mudflaps I took off the green one lol

I got a couple of pics of the mudflaps to give you an idea how low lol. If I brake they drag on the floor lol

Think I prefer the STI front to the 22B front...Always liked the spots...
I know what you mean Bob but i do prefer the look of the 22b bumper. Its just the quality of it was so poor it had to come off. Am tempted to go for a 4 door 22b kit at some stage so will get new bumpers front and rear then

Nice one... Top Job...
As you know I have Always liked that Car... right back when Ben & Lou had it....
And i also like cars to be Individual.... and the 22B bumper did set it apart... as the 22B is Rare....
However I agree with Bob...... It looks Much better with the STD Bumper....
Perhaps a set of Spots in the 22B bumper would make it look better....
Its difficult to see the Quality from the pics....
Cheers Derek, if I remember tomorrow while bumming around I`ll get some pics of the 22b bumper so you can get an idea of what i mean

Very nice .... love white (nearly as good as black).
What bhp is she running now ?
Last time it was recorded it was 278bhp and 270lb/ft torque. Although the fmic`s been fitted I wouldn`t expect to see any difference until the turbo`s done and mapped

that looks really nice mate, loving the FMIC too
a word of warning about the air filter, i bought one back a while and if you remove the carbon look cover the filter is about the size of a corneto cone, i fitted a HKS style one instead and the induction noise is a lot louder and its a lot easier to clean
Very nice I like what you've done.
here you go Derek

Have also just confirmed which turbo I`m having and its sat waiting for me for when the car makes it to the UK for the work :)
After its engine rebuild I finally got around to registering it over here so here is a couple of quick pics, excuse the picture quality but I can`t get my phone to take any decent pics with all the sun we get over here

Nice pics mate but
Why would you want advertising on the front window like you have?
no offence to sidc but think it would look better without ????

LOL, its been like that since i bought the car and as at the moment I`m undecided what my future plans are, they have been left until I come up with something :)
Finally, after it taking me all weekend to get them onto the computer I have pics at last of my latest mods.

Looking good Tiny... Nice vents...
one thing I didn`t realise when I got them is quite how big they are! Also, while my gran`s garage was free, it spent 2 weeks in there being polished, the calipers painted and new disks and pads
Hopefully, all being well, within the next couple of weeks the wheels will be powdercoated too and then the t1-r`s will eventually be fitted :)
The only problem I`m having at the moment is I keep getting the tempatation to sell it :(

Car's lookin great matey. Do really like the 22b vents :)
I`ve come to a bit of a stalling point at the moment. Part of me wants to sell up and either have some time out in a fabia or something for a while, another part wants me to sell mine and get a gorgeous blue type r thats for sale and a third part wants me to prep it for hillclimbing.
The problems I`ve come across so far are:
1. Garage offered me £3000 as part ex on the blue type R
2. Could I really bare to hear.see it driving around with someone else driving it
3. Prepping it to what I would class as acceptible for hillclimbing is going to cost me around £3300 by my reckoning
opinions?

the hillclimbing idea sounds a lot of fun,
Oh yes mate, I know it will be fun, but the outright record for our local hill is 27 seconds! I think a mate`s 340bhp impreza was doing 34`s roughly

u wonna gt one of the tiger kit cars, with 2 hiabussa engines, 4wheel drive, lots of fun
I was looking at a dutton the other day for £3000 ready to go ;)

u could spend the money on tuning ur scooby,
thats part of the £3300 mate as the turbo will be upgraded before I was to hillclimb it

sell it & get the type r
I know its been a while since I last updated this but due to a few issues at home over the last 6 months or so my circumstances changed quite a lot. The good news is, I decided to keep it :) Cleaned it today so I thought I`d take a couple of up to date pics
